Basic Guidelines for Use of Images
in News Reporting
- Graphic content must not be
altered
- Any caption will accurately
reflect NEJM's legend and context of original publication
- Each use requires a credit line
on the page where NEJM's image appears: "Source: The New England Journal of Medicine
[date of issue]."
- NEJM images may not be used
in advertising, or in any manner implying endorsement or promotion by the NEJM or
its parent/owner, the Massachusetts Medical Society
- Images may not be "unbundled,"
permanently archived, sold, loaned, or used for commercial or other purposes, apart
from their use in the initial news reporting events, without further written consent
- Uses must be for news reporting
only
